Couldn't agree more! It's still a work in progress, so it isn't as perfect as the original interpreter yet - I wouldn't recommend trying to play through the whole game yet.

Hi all fans of Broken Sword 2.5,

I agree with any good comments made about this game and I think that the team should be congratulated on the outcome. [smilie=angle.gif]

I posted that the English Voice pack will be out 18th October 2010.
Then we heard that the team needed another week because someone was sick? and many of you started to winge about the delay again.
The last time that I looked at the comments in this forum was 24th October 2010.
Today is the first time that I could get on the computer and get back to this forum as I was very sick with the flu for 14 days (people do get sick) and found out that the English voice pack was finished.
The English voice pack is great and it should stop all the wingers [smilie=angry.gif] and complainers [smilie=wallbash.gif] from making bad and rude comments. [smilie=ziped.gif]
But as sure as life goes on mark my words some people will still have something to complain about regarding this voice pack. [smilie=smartass1.gif]

I think that every one that plays this game should just get on with it an be thankful that it is finished. [smilie=thumbup.gif]
If you don't like the outcome then keep your rude comments to your selves. [smilie=ziped.gif]

Also [smilie=thanks.gif] to Sebastian Nisi alias TOOMS and Sarunas Ledas for all there input.

Regards Roman [smilie=cool.gif]

As it has been stated before, we are late not "just because we are doing pro bono work". Please read our messages before judging :)

That's exactly my point as well.
You have(well, had, now) reasons for the delay.

Would you have donated so much of your time to do something for others?

Actually I would and I have.
I am an architect who does community design work as well. This means that i provide design service for communities and non-profit organizations who otherwise could not afford it. I do it in my spare time, mostly for free or for a very low fee, only to cover my direct expenses related to the project.
But I never compromise with quality or miss deadlines just because i am doing pro bono work.

So I guess you have never made promises you couldn't keep?

This time, they at least told us that the reason for the extra delay is because the person who is responsible for finishing the English voice pack got sick and also had to attend a week-long conference.

I've been waiting just as long as you, actually since the game itself was just a rumor, and I'm disappointed as well every time the English pack gets delayed, but I don't get mad.
I really want to play the game as well, but I have no reason to get mad at the developers for the delays.
There's always a reason for delays, be they good reasons or bad reasons but at least they have reasons!

As has been stated over and over, this is a free game and a side project for everyone involved.
That means they are doing this in their spare time as a gift for the fans, us, and then you go and complain when they need more time?
I think that's very inconsiderate and ungrateful.
Would you have donated so much of your time to do something for others?

I'm not targeting you specifically, dombovarivanda.
I'm speaking to everyone who just complains and rages on about the delays and how they should have more respect for the fans etc.
You people should have more respect for them, seeing as they finished the game over two years ago and are still working on getting English voices for the rest of us.
They didn't have to do that.
They had no obligation whatsoever to do that, but as fans themselves they decided to do it.
For us.
I personally hope that the English voices get released today but if they don't, I'll be patiently waiting until they do. [smilie=thumbup.gif]

You just made my month, this is awesome news! Finally I will be able to play BS 2.5 on my Linux desktop, as well as on mobile devices like my Nokia N810. And it also means the game will never ever die as there is a portable open source version that will be ported to new platforms and see maintenance and improvements for years to come (also great just for Windows users).

I assume you guys handed over your source code to the ScummVM team to make that happen. If so, that was a brilliant decision, making your work immortal and forever part of the Broken Sword series as people will play it.

just reminding everyone that the end of the promised one week delay is due tomorrow...

even though this is the first time i am posting here i have been following the development of this game since the first news and later the first demo/intro came out in the early 2000s. i was really glad when it finally came out - something many thought would never happen.

however, it took me a while to make it work on my mac and i could only start playing when news about an upcoming english version were released. i stopped immediately thinking those few more weeks are not forever, and even though i speak the language, george talking german just felt odd anyway (no offense). i have never finished the game since and i decided that i won't until the english voices are ready.

those weeks became months and later years. with all my respect to you guys for the efforts and the overall quality of the game i have to say that with the enormous amount of work and time you contributed to the project it deserves to be finished. now it is only half done, many of us are still waiting, and getting more and more disillusioned. don't forget that providing something for free is very generous but it can never be an excuse for unkept promises.

please don't make us disappointed...

Another week is hardly a big deal. Usually when we're given delays for release dates it's a matter of months, not a few days.

I can't wait to play this, but at the same time I'd rather have as few bugs as possible, so take your time! [smilie=thumbup.gif]

Yeah, and would the English voices be made at all if we didn't give a shit about English fans?

I think people just care so much about the game that their emotions get the better of them ;) I don't think anyone really means that.

Nevertheless, I do wonder what has happened with the release date. It seems the announcement has been removed from the front-page as well.

YAAAAAYYYYY! Can't wait for tomorrow...

Incidentally, the English voices for BS2.5 are being released on the same day as the English dub of Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva, just so you know.

This is really exciting news.... BUT, I will believe it when I see it [smilie=thumbup.gif]

For all the greatness of this game (and trust me, this game is great) I really expect something to happen between now and then, like the release dates for anything!

English Voice Pack has a release date

Post by RomanAllOver » 5. October 2010, 10:38

Hi all fans,
I got an email from TOOMS letting me know that the English Voice Pack will be out on 18th October 2010. [smilie=thumbup.gif]

On the official web site http://brokensword25.com/
the message below was posted:

Right. We finally did it. All voices are recorded and all files are already cut, just some of them need final adjustments. Saying this we can also announce a release day which will be the 18th October. Today is our game's second birthday, so we hope this is a little birthday present from the mindFactory team to all non German fans out there. Just in case you didn't know: our game includes subtitles in various languages including the one's mentioned in the news entry below. On 18th October we also add French to that list. So stay tuned and spread the word!

This is great news and happy birthday to the team. [smilie=king.gif] [smilie=nar.gif] We wish all of you well and thanks for a great game.

Also [smilie=thanks.gif] Sebastian Nisi alias TOOMS

Regards Roman [smilie=cool.gif]
