Re: ZMAR Techdemo

Hi moonworm,

hmm, looks like there might be something going wrong with
you clanlib version. Although I think the right clanlib-libraries
are delivered with the project. (Just my assumption ...)

Anyway, I'm gonna ask our programmer Gunnar about it -
he is definetly the right guy to answer you question/problem.

So please have passions ... aehm, by the way, we have completly
rewritten the engine, not anymore using the clanlib (instead fmod
and the SDL). Maybe there will be a rerelase of the demo within the
next couple of month together with the MacOS Version.
Therfore it might take some time before Gunnar is helping
(if he can do so in anyway).

Oh, yes thank you for advertising us at happy-penguin.org ... I like their
site - maybe some new people from that community like to join in helping us ...

Regards,
Starkiller

ZMAR Techdemo

Hi !

Just found this very intresting project by accident ? Who knows.
I loved the Zak McKraken game :)

The screenshots look realy nice. Shame that the techdemo didnt work for me.
Code: Select all
zmar_techdemo $ ./sushi_linux
No hardware acceleration available. I hope you got a really fast machine..
*** glibc detected *** free(): invalid pointer: 0x080fd7e8 ***
Aborted

I have the clanlib 0.7.8 and i have also Opengl working, glxinfo confirms it.
Any ideas ? or ist that i got wrong glibc version. Im running Gentoo.

Well maybe i dl a LiveCD and try again :)

Suggestion Ask help on Linux Game Tome, http://happypenguin.org/forums/

I was thinking to tell in the forum about this great project, but decided to say about it here first.

An english demo is on the ToDo-List ... but at the moment it looks like
it won't have the speech of zak in the intro and will need some tmie as well

Furthermore we want to recreate the demo with actual grafix and sprites as well as the much improved engine (based now on SDL).

So have passions - in the next couple of months there will be releases
of an english demo and the Mac version of it :)

Thanks for the hints ... Yeah the sprite is indeed walking "wrong" Surprised

And I checked my walking with a mirror as well Laughing

I sent already a mail to k°ntrast# (our animation artist) so he can
fix these things.

Hey again ;)

well, firstly, I'd like to say I'm happy that we're not the only ones developing a fangame :)

Now, some comments. Firstly, I like the new style of the character. The side walking animation looks pretty good, too, but one big critics: when a human walks, his moving arm and leg are opposite. I mean the left hand moves forward with the RIGHT leg, and the right hand with the left leg. Just walk in front of the mirror and see ;)
What's more, the shoulders and the waist could move/rotate a bit, as well :)

That's all for now, see ya
